Winston and Jackie Freeman's Chalmette house

Here are some photos of Winston and Jackie's house in Chalmette. It has been gutted and cleaned out and is ready for demolition. Just four more days and it will be a year since Katrina hit and caused so much destruction and the clean up is still goin on and will be for a long time to come.

Betty's New Job

Betty started her new job with Unified Recovery Group last week. URG is the company retained by St. Bernard Parish to pick up the refuse from Hurrican Katrina. (That's right! It's been a year and they are still picking up trash and refuse.) Today makes her second full week on the job. She had to go into the Parish council last week and she was introduced to everyone as "Betty The Trash Lady." Now ain't that a title?

Then and Now

The last few months I have been getting in touch with some of the men with whom I was in the U.S. Air Force 46 to 50 years ago. It has been interesting and has brought back many happy memories of the time I spent in the military. Many of the men remained in the Air Force and retired after 20 years or more of service.

The black and white picture is of and Lonnie Kyle Anthony and me. The photo was taken in the summer or fall of 1957 while we were stationed at NSA at Ft. Meade, Maryland. As I recall it, Kyle had a friend in Baltimore (I think) who was a photographer and we had the photo made while visiting with him.

The color photos below are more or less how we look in 2006. Not much has changed, has it?

Barry Turns 37

Well, Old Barry Lane Nicholson ain't no spring chicken any more.

He turned 37 on August 11, 2006. His birthday was celebrated on Saturday, August 12, 2006. Kristen, being the pervert that she is, ordered him a special birthday cake. It's not quite X-rated.

Eyelids - Before & After

Today I had surgery on my eyelids to remove the droop and open up my eyes. My doctor assures me that this will improve my vision. Here are two pictures. The first this morning before the surgery and the second this afternoon after the surgery. Should have the stitches out Friday August 11 and we'll see how that looks.

At the Wedding

Several neighbors attended the festivities. Joe and Debbie LeBlanc. they've lived here for 18 years and I just met them Saturday night. Nice people.

Mike and Mona Fagin on the dance floor. Mike (aka Squeeky) and Mona have lived here for quite a few years. You can't live in the neighborhood withour meeting Mike. He's always bar=b=queing or doing something. Always ready to help a neighbor out, too.

Here's Ike looking cool on the dance floor.

Neighborhood gang signs, I guess.
